Cookie Policy
We only use analytics cookies if you say yes. Here is exactly what is stored, and why.
In short
We only set cookies if you agree. With your permission we use Google Analytics to see how people use this site, so we can improve it. Until you click Accept, no analytics code runs and no cookies are set. We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and you can change your mind at any time.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer, phone or tablet. Cookies are commonly used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, or track how people move around a site. Local storage works in a similar way — it holds a small amount of information in your browser — but unlike a cookie it is never automatically sent to the website's server.
The rules covering these technologies in the UK are the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), alongside the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What this site uses
If you click Accept, we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use this site. It sets two cookies:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Cookie, set by Google Analytics | Tells one browser apart from another, so visits and returning visitors can be counted | 2 years |
_ga_2TC777JC71 |
Cookie, set by Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
simplyit-analytics-consent |
Browser local storage — not a cookie | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so you are not asked on every page | Stays until you clear your browser data |
Google Analytics tells us things like which pages are visited, how long people stay, roughly where visitors are (to town or city level), what kind of device and browser they use, and which website or search brought them here. It does not tell us who you are, and Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. We have switched off Google’s advertising features for this site, so the information is not used to show you adverts.
If you click Deny, or do not respond, Google Analytics does not load and no cookies are set. Your choice is kept in your own browser and is never sent to us.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings button in the corner of any page. If you withdraw your consent, analytics stops and the Google Analytics cookies are removed from your browser.
What this site does not use
Apart from Google Analytics, and only with your consent, this site does not use any of the following:
- advertising pixels or conversion tracking;
- advertising, targeting or retargeting cookies;
- social media tracking pixels or embedded sharing buttons;
- embedded video, maps or other third-party frames;
- cross-site tracking of any sort.
Analytics cookies are not essential to the running of the site, so under PECR we only set them with your consent.
Our blog
The blog section of this site runs on WordPress. It does not display a comment form, and apart from the Google Analytics cookies described above, which only apply if you click Accept, it does not set cookies for ordinary visitors. WordPress only uses its own cookies if a member of our team signs in to manage the site.
Other services you may choose to use
Some links on this site take you to services run by other companies:
- Calendly — if you click to book a call.
- Trustpilot — if you click to read or leave a review.
- Google Maps — if you click for directions on our contact page.
None of them loads anything on this site or can set a cookie here. They only apply once you click through, at which point you are on their website and their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
Managing cookies in your browser
As well as using Cookie Settings, you can control cookies and site data through your browser settings:
Google also offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every website you visit.
Blocking all cookies and site data may stop this site remembering your choice about this notice, in which case you will see it again on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
If we add any other technology that sets cookies, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before it runs. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
